CD ALBUM

When an artist of Mitch Ryder’s caliber looks back on a career spanning six decades and calls his latest album an absolute must-have, you should take that statement seriously.

Ryder is a rock ’n’ roll icon, a living legend whose influence has shaped the history of American music. Anyone who traces the roots and offshoots of this genre will agree: Mitch Ryder deserves his place on rock ’n’ roll’s imaginary Mount Rushmore.

He is the spiritual forerunner for generations of musicians—from Bruce Springsteen to Ted Nugent—who turned up their amps and shouted their truths to the world.

As a rock ’n’ roll pioneer, Ryder was already at the center of the action in the late 1950s. He is the hitmaker who conquered the charts in the mid-1960s with Detroit Wheels’ songs like “Jenny Take A Ride” and his cover of “Devil With A Blue Dress On.”

But Ryder’s influence extends far beyond these successes: in 1967, he was the last artist to perform with Otis Redding, and in 2017, he became the first living white musician to be inducted into the R&B Hall of Fame. His career is a striking testament to musical talent, innovation, and passion—and his new album is another chapter in this extraordinary story.
