It grew into another animal, something more experimental.”

Heavy, dark and deeply cinematic, Dead Son Rising is a blend of industrial rock and electronic goth synth. Because of its powerful synth lines, distorted guitars and claustrophobic production, critics compared the album to Nine Inch Nails (a band Numan famously influenced and has toured with). Many of the tracks are deeply personal, exploring troubled relationships and emotional betrayal. However, songs like ‘We Are The Lost’ and the title track ‘Dead Sun Rising’ pull from a sci-fi fantasy novel Numan was writing at the time.

Dead Moon Falling (2011) is the companion remix album to Dead Son Rising, with mixes curated by Numan, featuring a diverse array of artists including Tim Burgess (Charlatans), Alec Empire (Atari Teenage Riot), Gazelle Twin and Sonoio (NIN).

The above albums are included on the 2LP version of this new reissue, with the 4CD format also including bonus tracks and the corresponding live album Big Noise Transmission.

2LP TRACKLISTING

LP1

Side 1

Resurrection

Big Noise Transmission

Dead Sun Rising

When the Sky Bleeds, He Will Come

For the Rest of My Life

Side 2

Not the Love We Dream Of

The Fall

We Are the Lost

For the Rest of My Life (Reprise)

Into Battle

LP2

Side 3

Big Noise Transmission (Tim Burgess Remix)

Dead Sun Rising (SONOIO Remix)

We Are the Lost (Gazelle Twin Remix)

When the Sky Bleeds, He Will Come (TweakerRay Remix)

Not the Love We Dream Of (The Duke Spirit Remix)

Side 4

The Fall (Officers Remix)

For the Rest of My Life (Alec Empire Remix)

For the Rest of My Life (Reprise) (Is Tropical Remix)

4 Dead Sun Rising (Grayed Out Mix)

https://www.gatefieldsounds.com/products/gary-numan-dead-son-rising-deluxe-edition-limited-edition-inkplosion-vinyl-2lp-pre-order-out-20th-november-2026
